  • 1.  Re-visiting newspaper ads in the next TX session?

    Posted 11-14-2024 06:08 AM

Can anyone from TSSA give us an update on plans for the next Texas legislative session?

Will there be a renewed push to kill the newspaper auction ad requirement?

    Thanks!

    Thank you for asking!

Representative Stan Lambert (Abilene, District 71) filed House Bill 1093 this week. HB 1093 seeks an amendment to the statute to provide alternative methods for advertising a lien sale.

Representative Lambert sponsored this bill last session and it was passed in the House, but we were not able to make movement on the Senate side before the session ended. We will need member support this session to champion the bill.

More communication to members will follow soon.

    What can you do?

    • Find out who your local representative is. https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home
    • When the session starts in January, we will ask members to start making calls to your local representative.
    • Willing to do more? Send me a message and I can share other ways you can help us move the bill forward.

Just came here to complain about a newspaper in Tx charging $60 PER DAY, yes PER DAY to run a public notice.  This nonsense has got to stop.  Such a waste of time and money.  More people would see the notice if I posted it on my personal facebook page for free.  Heck, a corplast sign posted on the highway outside my facility for $20 would get more eyes on it and would be more of a true public notice.  Please stop the madness

A common misconception is that the newspaper ads must be run consistently for two consecutive weeks. The ad should be published in consecutive weeks, seven days apart. Example: The first ad runs on Tuesday and the second ad runs Tuesday of the following week.

We're asking members to help us collect data on where you currently run your ads. Please provide your input here to help us.

My Rep Brooks Landgraf District 81 said he would support this.
