Subject: Your staff is already using AI - you just don't have control over it
I've been seeing more and more AI-generated stuff pop up in storage operations lately-flyers, emails, pricing ideas, you name it.
Here's the issue… most of it is being used without any real oversight.
I just had a situation where an AI-generated flyer came across my desk with the wrong facility name and unit mix that didn't even exist at the property. That's not just sloppy-it's the kind of thing that chips away at credibility fast.
The bigger concern is what's happening behind the scenes:
employees pasting tenant info into AI tools, relying on whatever comes out without checking it, and no clear boundaries on what's acceptable and what's not.
That's a risk most operators haven't really thought through yet.
We're working through it on our side right now-putting together a straightforward AI acceptable use policy that actually fits storage operations. Nothing overcomplicated, just clear guardrails and practical use.
If your team is already using AI (or you think they might be), it's worth getting ahead of it before it turns into a problem. If you want a second set of eyes or don't feel like building this from scratch, I'm happy to help.
