We'll be sure to update this thread if we complete a Noke Ion install at one of our sites. We're really looking forward to the benefits it brings, but making the jump is daunting considering the price tag and the fundamental need for tenants to have access to their stuff in the off chance of a failure!
Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hey Dominic,
Appreciate you reaching out - totally understand the mixed bag of feedback. Noke has actually been great to us overall. Like with any new tech, we had some hiccups early on, but nothing unexpected. We've built a strong relationship with the Janus team, and they've been excellent about keeping our facilities operational and responsive to any issues that pop up.
That said, I'll be honest - the Noke One locks are awesome when they work, but a real headache when they don't. The batteries definitely don't live up to the 3-year marketing claim in our experience, so we had to implement some internal processes to stay ahead of battery failures. It's manageable, just something you've got to plan around.
When Janus rolled out the ION, we were one of the first groups they brought it to for feedback, though we haven't installed them at any of our sites yet. The app is super user-friendly and integrates well with our PMS, which has been a huge plus from an ops perspective.
Their support team also deserves a shoutout - they're proactive about checking in and making sure everything is running smoothly. When the system is up (which for us is 99.99% of the time), it's rock solid and we rarely get tenant complaints.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but with the caveat that it's a premium product that requires an engaged team to manage it right. And like you said, a lot depends on the quality of the install and the network setup.
I'd also love to hear more feedback from other operators using Noke - it's always helpful to compare notes.
Best,

Hey Andy,
I haven't had any direct experience with Noke, but have asked others their thoughts and I've received a mixed bag. I've also rented at facilities that had it to test it out and had no issues at all with the access points or Noke latch. Are you able to share your feedback on how they've been working for your facilities? I've spoken with some owners and there seems to be a general consensus that a hardwired alternative (see Noke Ion) would be much more preferable to a Noke One type product (battery powered smart latch). I've heard everything from they're the best thing since sliced bread to them being junk - I think it heavily depends on the quality of the install and mesh network. The tech savviness of the owner/manager/management company would probably heavily influence their opinion of the product as well.
As with any technology, I'd imagine the old turn it off and turn it back on trick will sometimes solve the connectivity problems. You could either do this with the modem/router/Noke access point and all the gateways and/or wireless bridges. Wish I could be of more help, but we haven't yet pulled the trigger on a facility-wide install.
I'm dying to hear how they've worked for you guys though - please do tell!
Sincerely,
Dominic

Hey Texas storage operators!
We've been using Nokē smart locks across our facilities and are curious how others in the Texas self-storage community are finding the technology.
Do you like the Nokē system? What's working well for you-and what kind of issues have you run into?
Also, how do you and your team typically troubleshoot lock or connectivity problems? Any tips, tricks, or best practices you've developed over time?
Looking forward to hearing how others are handling it. Appreciate any insights you can share!
