In terms of being "fully covered," it's generally best practice to complete the additional forms. That said, there are ways to reduce the number of signatures without sacrificing protection.
For autopay, one option is to avoid a separate authorization addendum by having tenants enroll themselves online. Most systems include clear language confirming the tenant is granting permission to charge the card monthly, as long as that language is consistent with what would otherwise be in a standalone form. That can reduce one required signature. With that said, setting up autopay at move-in is sometimes the easiest way to capture both autopay enrollment and authorization, especially for in-person move-ins.
Regarding insurance, while the TSSA lease does address storage protection, we've found the addendum to be very helpful. In situations where a customer later expects coverage assistance, having the signed insurance acknowledgment provides clear documentation that coverage was offered and declined. It reinforces the insurance requirement under the TSSA lease and helps keep those conversations calm and straightforward.
So while it may feel like overkill, the extra documentation does provide clarity and protection. The key is deciding what works best for you operationally, as it's ultimately a business decision.
